Family Law Intakes
Intake interviews are one of the first steps in receiving legal assistance for family law issues. Participating in an interview does not guarantee representation, but will provide prospective clients an opportunity to receive advice and direction.
The FLAC office does not accept walk-ins or make appointments. Prospective client interviews are only offered during scheduled intake hours.
Intakes will take place at our offices at 5425 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI, 48202. Please bring with you any relevant paperwork regarding your case. When you arrive please wait in the lobby our staff will help you from there.
Wait times vary based on the amount of people seeking advice. We apologize for any inconvenience and urge you to be prepared. If you have any questions regarding upcoming intakes please call us at (313) 833-0058 and we will be happy to give you more information.
Eligibility
Due to funding and staffing limitations, we can only take on cases that meet the following requirements:
- You are a Wayne County resident, or the case is filed in Wayne County Court
- The case involves one of these family law issues:
- Divorce,
- Child custody (parents only)
- Child support (parents only)
- Paternity
- Personal Protection Order (PPO)

Elder Law Intakes:
The Free Legal Aid Clinic, Inc. and the Elder Law and Advocacy Center work together to give legal advice to seniors 60+ who live in Wayne County on issues including: Guardianship/Conservatorship, Wills/Trusts, nursing home/assisted living/senior housing; Power of Attorney; Medicare/Medicare; school enrollment; and more.
Intakes will take place at the Elder Law and Advocacy Center at 12121 Hemingway Ave., Redford, MI, 48239. Please bring with you any relevant paperwork if you have an ongoing case.

- You are 60 years of age or older, or are the caregiver for someone who is 60 years of age or older
- Who is a Wayne County Resident
